Event description

Description

Athena Corcorcan Tadd - Fiddle

Born in 1989 Athena has lived in the United States, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, England, and France: a physical nomadism which generates a delving curiosity and demands a multilingualism which is in itself a web of sound combinations.

She was selected as one of the participants for the IMPULS Academy 2017 ‘Collaboratory’ with Stefan Prins, resulting in the composition and performance of ENTRANCE//EXIT, a piece exploring the audience and performers’ experience of the performance and listening space(s).

In April 2017 Parla[&]tu for solo viola d’amore was premiered in New York by Marco Fusi. Her upcoming projects include a substantial theatrical-musical work for voiced instruments and work on the soundtrack for an independent film.

When she's not exploring life inside tubas and viola d’amores, Athena can be found playing the fiddle in the Irish pubs of Rome, and sometimes appears as one half of The Cat’s Meow, a duet with accordionist Christy Leahy which recently made its debut at the 2017 Brooklyn Folk Festival.
