Individual members of the band have wide experience and have performed with top local, national, and international performers.As Filology, they have performed at the Cork Jazz Festival also Limerick Jazz Festival, as well as a residency at Counihan’s, Cork, and a number of other impressive gigs.
Piano: Brian PriestleyBrian has played with most of the top international musicians visiting London from the 1960’s, as well as leading his own ensembles during the 1980/90’s, before settling in Ireland in the early 2000’s. As well as being a first-rate pianist, he has written biographies of some of the leading jazz innovators, including, Charlie Parker and Charles Mingus. He writes for Jazzwise magazine and broadcasts ‘That’s Jazz’ on Radio Kerry. Brian has played with Filology for several years, other recent gigs include John Daly Quartet, Tom Harrell trio.
Double Bass: Michael O’RiordanA well-regarded player of jazz and classical music. Michael plays comfortably in a wide variety of musical styles. He has played with some of the cream of Irish and international musicians. He regularly plays with the house band for the prestigious Jazz Improv at Crane Lane Theatre, Cork. He has played with Filology for several years
