About this event
In 1722, the first dedicated fire service was launched in Dublin city. These were not the men of the Dublin Fire Brigade, but Royal Exchange Insurance and other private companies. Some of their marks remain around the city even today, a reminder of the early beginnings of firefighting in Dublin. How did they come into being, and what do they tell us about the history of firefighting in the Irish capital?Las Fallon is a retired firefighter and author of numerous studies on the Dublin Fire Brigade's history.
