About this event
In association with France Énergie Éolienne (FEE), the Embassy of Ireland, France is happy to announce that we will be hosting an event focusing on Offshore Renewable Energy in France and Ireland.
This event will be an opportunity for an exchange between French and Irish policy-makers and stakeholders on the latest planning developments in both jurisdictions. Ireland and France are close partners in the policy field of energy who both share high ambitions when it comes to renewables.
The Irish government has recently increased its target from 5 gigawatts of offshore wind by 2030, now with an additional 2 gigawatts earmarked for green hydrogen. Beyond Ireland can become a major contributor to a pan-European renewable energy generation and transmission beyond that date taking advantage of the enormous potential for offshore floating wind power of the Atlantic.
There will also be an opportunity to receive an update in relation to the development of the Celtic Interconnector, the 700 MW high-voltage direct current submarine power cable between the southern coast of Ireland and the north-west France, led by EirGrid and RTE.
Enterprise Ireland are partnering in the event and a range of companies from the offshore wind sector will be present including Exceedance, Techworks Marine and Suir Engineering.
Panel discussions will explore marine spatial planning and development of the power grid and interconnection allowing for an exchange of best practices on questions of biodiversity, innovation and scientific cooperation, stakeholder engagement and acceleration of planning processes.
Other discussions will include advances on the Celtic interconnector project and the challenges of the current energy crisis raises the question of how can France and Ireland can deepen our collaboration. Are there possibilities for future interconnection between Ireland and France? How can we work together as members of the European Union and as partners in North Seas Energy cooperation?
We look forward to you joining us at the Embassy
The event will take place in English.
