Free Online Training Opportunity for firms, employees and students looking to upskill in the area of Smart Manufacturing and Industry 4.0.

About this event

IDEAM Cluster in collaboration with the IN4.0 Interreg Atlantic Area project have partnered to offer a Free Online Training Opportunity for upskilling of firms, employees and students looking to develop their knowledge in the area of Smart Manufacturing and Industry 4.0.

Advanced manufacturing is aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of companies through digitalisation and smart factory innovative solutions. To learn about the new technologies driving innovation in traditional manufacturing sectors, a series of six modules have been developed to help learners understand IN4.0 technologies and how they can improve productivity and efficiency.

Three courses are available, each of which combines 2 modules and a short test. When a learner completes a course they receive a certificate of completion with their result. Participants can pick and choose the most relevant courses which interest them. The training can be undertaken at any time online, through a dedicated e-learning platform. Participants can choose to take 1, 2 or all three courses.

The courses which form part of this training offering are:

  • Course 1: Fundamentals of Industry 4.0, People and Change Management
  • Course 2: Digital Manufacturing Related Key Enabling Technologies (KET)
  • Course 3: Digital Factory: Manufacturing Intelligence for Engineering and Production

The IN 4.0 Project funded by the Interreg Atlantic Area programme aims at improving the competitiveness of traditional manufacturing companies, whom are striving for business continuity in increasingly demanding markets, where innovation is a key factor in strategic positioning. Through this training initiative, the project partners which include the V-LINC research group in the Munster Technological University are making this training available in partnership with IDEAM - the Irish Digital Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing Cluster.

In this training, participants will understand the theory and practicalities involved in:

  • Diagnosing the starting point for the digitalisation of a company.
  • Identifying the main key enabling technologies of the connected industry.
  • Understanding the fundamentals of the connected industry in the main industrial sectors.
  • Channeling strategic thinking, the right leadership style and the cultural profile of companies to ensure the success of the digital transformation.
  • Determining the level of maturity of the existing technologies likely to be implemented in SMEs.
  • Training staff to move towards IN 4.0.
  • Designing innovative strategies to reduce costs in the application of technology.
  • Identifying new marketing methods.
