Event description

Description

The Arthritis Ireland Annual Lecture 2019 will be delivered by Prof. Ursula Fearon, Professor of Molecular Rheumatology, School of Medicine, Trinity College Dublin.

Prof. Fearon’s research focuses on understanding the underlying mechanisms that drive disease pathogenesis, or the origin and development of inflammatory arthritis. Her team examine components of joint inflammation at a cellular and molecular level to dissect the signalling and gene pathways that are disturbed in patients who have inflammatory arthritis and rheumatic diseases. She has developed several novel models for the study of innovative medicines in the field of rheumatology and immunology and has established strong collaborative research networks across Europe, USA and Singapore, and is active member of the Arthritis Research Coalition, Ireland.

An award-winning researcher, Prof. Fearon has been awarded significant national and international research funding. She has an international reputation, having published extensively in high impact peer-reviewed journals.

Note: Prof. Luke O'Neill, who was originally scheduled to deliver the annual lecture, is no longer available to do so, due to international commitments.
