Description

Objective

The aim of the course is to develop participants’ appreciation of FRS 102 and FRS 105 so that they can apply it in practice for their own companies and clients, with particular focus on real life examples relevant to typical SME financial statements.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this course participants should be able to:

  • identify and apply the disclosure requirements relating to FRS 102 and FRS 105;
  • prepare single entity and group financial statements in accordance with FRS 102 and FRS 105

  • Overview of FRS 102 and standard set of financial statements
  • FRS 102 Assets & Liabilities (specific focus on typical issues and pitfalls)
  • FRS 102 Revenue & Expenditure (specific focus on typical issues and pitfalls)
  • FRS 102A (specific focus on key differences between FRS 102 & 102A)
  • FRS 102 & 102A Wrap up of financial statements, including Company law disclosures
  • FRS 105 The Standard and review of standard set of financial statements (focusing on key differences between it and FRS 102)

Trainer Bio

Brian Murphy is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland, for whom he lectures extensively on financial accounting/reporting, auditing, strategy, corporate governance, ethics and finance at CAP 1, CAP 2 and FAE levels. Brian has also presented at a number of Institute CPD seminars and events on a range of topics including Auditing and Financial Accounting. Brian is also involved in the delivery of the Institute’s Diploma in IFRS and Certificate in Irish/UK GAAP.

Brian is a Director at Deloitte having previously held senior positions at EY, Baker Tilly Ryan Glennon and Mazars. Brian has over twelve years audit and general business advisory experience, specialising in external statutory audits, internal audits (including systems reviews and “value for money” audits), due diligence and forensic accounting investigations (for both private and public sector organisations)

Brian studied Business & Legal Studies at UCD. On completion of his final exams with the Institute of Chartered Accountants Brian also successfully completed the Institute’s Diploma in IFRS.
