Welcome to the final instalment of the Dublin2020 & CFCP Fuckup Nights. We have located the venue, warmed up the speakers and the alarms in the city are ready to start. So what are we waiting for? We’re going out in a blaze of glory!

After all, you’ve set your sights for the sky; there is no price high enough for your dreams. You’ve planned for success but failure comes a knocking instead, what are you going to do? Fight back with feeling? Fight back with love? One thing is sure you’re not going to let it get you down, failure won’t stop you. You’ve fucked up but now you can relive it, revile the learnings, rediscover the past! So damn right, we ARE going out in a blaze of glory, the way we came in, with our hands held up high!

Just remember that tomorrow will be the same as it ever was…same as it ever was…same as it ever was…

Our Fuckpreneurs for the night, who will be cleansing their souls in public include:

Ray Yeates – Dublin City Council Arts Officer

Marie Redmond – Entrepreneur, Head of Creative Entrepreneurship, Trinity College, Dublin

Emma ConnorsArts Development Co-ordinator, Axis Ballymun

How You Can Get Involved!

To follow on from the semi-musical theme we are asking the audience for their songs about Fuckups. If you have any suggestions that you would like to add to the Fuckup Ireland playlist then send them in, add them to the Facebook page or tweet us – however you get here just get them here – the more the better…..

And if you would like to confess your Fuckups we will have a Fuckup confessional box in Axis on the night. Feel free to write your Fuckups down and we will burn them for you – cleansing you of all your past Fuckups.

About Fuckup Nights

FuckUp Nights are a monthly event series that happens world-wide, where people talk about their biggest professional or business failure in an irrelevant and candid way. At FuckUp Nights stories of failed businesses and projects are told, questioned and celebrated.

The first FuckUp Night happened in Mexico City in September 2012. Since then fuckupers are gathered every month across the world to drink beer and listen to three stories about failure.

In each FuckUp Night 3 or 4 fuckupreneurs share their stories of failure including:
What was their project? What did they do wrong? What did they learn? What would they do differently?

The speakers can be quite varied: artists, architects, technology, green, social and business. Each of them tells their story in 10 images, each projected for 40 seconds, and at the end of each story the audience asks questions. All accompanied by beers & good friends.

Why do we do it?

Because failure sucks, but instructs. Because one can learn more from stories of failure than from stories of success. Because the majority of professionals don’t create the “project of the year” in their first attempt.

Because people feel the need to break free from the stigmas surrounding “failure”.

We deeply believe in communicating failure as a positive step everyone must overcome on the road to success.

This is what we have set about to change in Dublin.

So come and join the fun and banter! Mark the 13 August in your diary!

We are competing for the European Capital of Culture 2020 to build a new story for Dublin, based on shared ideas, inclusion and confidence. Dublin can be a leading city in Europe; we can take advantage of our talented young population, our informed older population and everyone in between to initiate major progress in communities and neighbourhoods. We need everyone in Dublin to join in. If you are part of Dublin you are part of Dublin2020. #TeamDublin
