Event description
To celebrate 50 years of The Gallery Press, a reading by 7 Gallery writers.

About this Event

The Gallery Press is recognized at home and abroad as Ireland’s pre-eminent publisher of poetry and drama. 2020 marks the Press's 50th anniversary. It began publishing with its first release on 6 February 1970. Since then, Gallery has published works by a host of major Irish writers, including Brian Friel, John Banville, Ciaran Carson, Derek Mahon, Medbh McGuckian, Frank McGuinness, Colm Toibin, Marina Carr, Dermot Healy, Thomas Kilroy, Paul Muldoon, Stewart Parker, and many more. It's impossible to imagine the Irish literary landscape without Gallery Press.

2020 will see a series of events to mark this extraordinary half-century of achievement. Peter Fallon founded the press when he was eighteen years old and has been the editor since the press's formation. These events will be inaugurated on 6th February 2019 at a public event hosted by the School of English, Trinity College Dublin, at The Long Room Hub, TCD.

Join us at 19:00 on 6th February for readings and discussion with seven outstanding Gallery writers: Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin, Gerald Dawe, Peter Sirr, Sara Berkeley, Rosita Boland, Vona Groarke, and Gallery Press founder Peter Fallon.
