About this event
Leinster IGPS invites you to join them on a garden visit like no other!
Set in a 250 acre estate there are two walled gardens – anyone can have one! These are at their peak of interest, beauty, and perfection in July. They will astound you with colour, design and plant selection. The first and main walled garden is huge and quite formal. This is surrounded by other areas of herbaceous, shrubs and woodland plantings and a variety of hard landscaping features. When you have had your fill of this area near the house you hop in your car again and drive through parkland to an area near the second walled garden. This garden is quite a contrast to the first as the planting is much more informal with a stream running through. Much more relaxed in its layout there is still a superb selection of plants and a more muted colour palette.
Those who attended the wonderful plant sale in aid of Ukraine in May would have been in the area near this second walled garden but the gate wasn’t open that day! This is your opportunity to see inside the wall and you will still be supporting the Charity. The owner, Mrs. Patricia Kenneally’s family have Irish American ancestry and she is a friend of the founder and trustee of The BEARR Trust who has worked in Ukraine and Moldova for many years.
The visit will be guided by the head gardener David Gillard and, hopefully, the garden’s designer Martin Walsh who may be known to many of you as he has spoken at IGPS and AGS lectures in the past.
Security is very important so everyone is asked to arrive promptly between 2.00 – 2.20pm. Photographs are permitted in the walled gardens but you are asked not to take photos near the house.
As always dress for the weather and wear suitable footwear !
