GAZE x Outhouse - Queer Film Club: Thelma (2017)
Overview
Welcome back to the GAZE x Outhouse: Queer Film Club! We’re delighted to have you as part of our warm and wonderful community of queer film lovers, and we can’t wait to share our December screening with you.
This month’s pick is the haunting and electrifying Norwegian psychological thriller Thelma (2017), directed by Joachim Trier. Set against the stark beauty of Norway, Thelma follows a young woman whose life begins to unravel as she discovers mysterious, supernatural abilities, just as she falls in love with another woman. The film explores desire, identity, and the terrifying, liberating power that comes with embracing one’s truest self.
Moody, intense, and visually stunning, Thelma is a perfect match for winter nights. A story that lingers long after the credits, inviting reflection, conversation, and maybe even a little shiver.
