Event description

Description

With the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) around the corner, it's a common topic in meetings and conversations but there is little information available at the practical level. Many people are wondering what will be affected or can we continue to work as we have previously and what kind of changes do we face?

Meanwhile, IT Security requires constant vigilance and is of a concern to everyone as we engage with and rely on more and more online services and potentially expose more of our personal and professional information.

Good practices and simple steps can help to keep us and our information safe, and in turn can also help us to handle and respond to changes such as those that will be required by GDPR rules.

We will hear from Maria Moloney from the UCD GDPR project team and Paul Kennedy, IT Services IT Security Officer who will both give talks on their respective areas of expertise and provide simple and effective information all attendees can easily make use of.

Schedule:

10.00 - Opening remarks: Peter Kenealy, Technical Services Manager, UCD Smurfit School

10.10 - GDPR - Maria Moloney, UCD GDPR Project Team

10.45 - Refreshments, Tea/Coffee etc. will be served

11.00 - IT Security Awareness - Paul Kennedy, IT Security Officer, UCD IT Services

11.30 - Final Q&A for remaining questions and closing remarks

Please RSVP by taking a free ticket so we can arrange catering appropriately and we look forward to seeing you on March 14th.

This event is for members of the UCD community only.
