Description

DCU Business School together with the Irish Centre for Cloud Computing and Commerce and Republic of Work invite you to attend the GDPR workshop for SMEs. The workshop takes place in Republic of Work on Thursday, 23rd August from 9.00 -16.00.

Organisations of all sizes are required to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) since 25th May 2018. However, many questions persist regarding how to comply with the GDPR and much confusion surrounds many aspects of the GDPR. This dynamic, interactive GDPR workshop is designed by our subject matter experts to serve as an introduction to GDPR for SMEs.

This GDPR workshop includes a mix of presentations and group-work exercises to give you a comprehensive understanding of what GDPR means for your business.

The workshop will cover the following aspects of GDPR in the form of hands on interactive break-out sessions:

Introduction to the GDPR: An overview of the GDPR, what is the GDPR and what is new?
Individual Rights: Understanding the rights of Individuals under the GDPR and the governing principles for data protection
Organisation Obligations: Protecting individuals’ rights, understanding your responsibilities and roles.
Answering Important Questions for SMEs: Do you need a DPO? What are International Data Transfers? What are record management obligations do you have?
Personal Data vs. Sensitive Data: How are data types classified? How should we treat this types of data?
Exploring the Legal Basis for Processing: Understanding legitimate business interest and consent
