About this Event
Join artist Raphael Hynes as he presents a unique look into the changing art styles and roles that took place over the late 18th century right up to the early 20th.
Feel free to book separately on each of the dates or at any point book for our special 5-Lecture ticket which will guarantee your place for each talk!
Please take note, all talk times will begin at 11am each Thursday, except for April 8th which will begin at 10am.
IMPORTANT: When booking, please note your Zoom Link will be emailed on the day of the event from Eventbrite/Highlanes Gallery. Please check your Junk/Clutter if you do not receive it in your main email box.
5-Lecture Series
Talk 1: Neo-Classical Art, Romantic Art and Realist Art, March 18th, 11am
Raphael Hynes discusses how artists responded to the Enlightenment, which brought about huge political and social change.
Talk 2: Manet and the Impressionists, March 25th, 11am
Raphael Hynes discusses when Modern life becomes the subject for the artist.
Talk 3: The Post-Impressionists, April 1st, 11am
Raphael Hynes discusses when the artist no longer feels obliged to depict a “realistic” representation of the world but instead creates a personal vision in which colour and brush work are used as a means of expression.
Talk 4: Matisse, Fauvism and Expressionism, April 8th, 10am
Raphael Hynes discusses when the flat surface of the painting becomes all important as the artist turns away from depicting the illusion of three dimensional space and concentrates instead on the expression of emotions. Please note the earlier time, as there is a Children's Easter Workshop at 11am
Talk 5: Picasso, Cubism and the road to Abstraction, April 15th, 11am
Raphael Hynes discusses when the painting becomes its own reality.
Attendee Outline:
- One ticket need only be purchased per household/screen
- A maximum of 40 screens/attendees/families may be admitted to the Session.
- Zoom Meetings are recorded for archival use
Zoom Guidelines & Settings
- The required ZOOM link will be sent to all attendees via Eventbrite 1 hour before the event starts
- If email from Eventbrite is not shown in your main email list, please make sure to check your Junk/Clutter/Spam/etc folder as this will have your ZOOM link.
- As further protection, each unique link will be accompanied with a password only for those intending to participate, and sent to the email used to book through Eventbrite
- ZOOM's 'Waiting Room' feature has been enabled, allowing the host to check and admit attendees to the session. Please make sure your ZOOM username/profile name matches that which was used to book through Eventbrite
- Use of Social Media Accounts to sign into the Workshop ZOOM meeting have been disabled to protect privacy of attendees
- Workshop will be locked once all scheduled attendees have been admitted
- File Sharing has been disabled
- ZOOM's Chat Save function will be disabled
- ZOOM's Private Chat function will be disabled
