Glaciation and glacial feature of the Irish mountains
Event Information
About this event
Glaciation and glacial feature of the Irish mountains - When were glaciers present in Ireland? How extensive were they? What contribution did they make to the mountain landscapes? This presentation by Peter Wilson will attempt to provide some answers to these questions by considering features of glacial erosion and deposition - features that can be seen on all mountain walks (assuming it's not raining and blowing a hooley and you have not retreated to the inner recesses of your waterproofs!).
Dr Peter Wilson is a lecturer and researcher in aspects of physical geography, with particular interests in mountain glaciation and the after-effects of ice in the uplands. He is an active hillwalker, an individual member of Mountaineering Ireland, has ties to Ulster University, Coleraine, and lives in Portstewart on the north coast.
