Event description
ADHD training course aimed at GPs to cover assessment, treatment and medication protocols for ADHD, delivered by Professor Blánaid Gavin.

About this Event

The course will be hosted by Associate Professor Dr Blánaid Gavin, Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist from the UCD School of Medicine. The course will cover assessment, treatment and medication protocols for ADHD and is specifically aimed at GPs.

It is hosted by ADHD Care (a collaboration between ADHD Ireland with UCD’s and Maynooth University’s Schools of Psychiatry).

The aim of the course is to provide local focus to the global phenomenon of ADHD, a recent study in the Irish Journal of Medical Science (June 2019) concludes: “Despite the high rates of ADHD among children, a slim majority of Irish GPs have positive attitudes towards ADHD. This could lead to undiagnosed or misdiagnosed cases.” The researchers questioned 140 GPs of whom only “58.8 per cent expressed a positive attitude towards ADHD”.
