Liam

Liam Kelly - Director General, Workplace Relations Commission (WRC)

Liam will provide delegates with an overview of the activities of the WRC over the past 12 months. Mr. Kelly will also share details of what’s on the horizon in terms of the WRC Strategy 2019-2022.

Liam Kelly was formally appointed as Director-General of the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) in May 2019, a post he had filled on an acting basis since 1 November 2018. Prior to that, Liam had been Chief Operations Officer of the WRC since its establishment on 1 October 2015. Liam has an MA in Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations, a Higher Diploma in Public Administration and is a Certified Workplace Relations Adjudicator.


Kev

Kevin McManamon - Performance Psychology Consultant

Kevin is a Psychology Consultant with the Irish Amateur Boxing Association. He will be discussing ‘high-performance mindsets’ as well as highlighting valuable lessons that businesses learn from.

Kevin works within a broad range of sports. He runs educational programs in the area of Life Skills, Leadership and Mental Health and is the founder of Warriors of the Light – a community initiative to change the conversation around mental health. Kevin is also an experienced high-performance athlete himself having represented the highly successful Dublin Senior Gaelic Football team since 2010 amassing 6 All Ireland Medals.


Lorraine

Lorraine Smyth - Partner, ByrneWallace

Lorraine will give an insightful overview of the most recent developments in employment legislation in Ireland. She will also include details of future legislative changes for employers to look out for.

Lorraine is a Partner in the ByrneWallace Employment Team and joined the firm in 2000 after having worked in the insurance industry. Lorraine has over 15 years’ experience in all aspects of contentious and non-contentious employment law. She has particular expertise advising clients on all aspects of business transfers and has advised numerous national and international clients through outsourcing, restructuring, redundancy processes. In addition, she has extensive expertise in the areas of data protection legislation.


Siobh

Siobhan Kinsella - Director, The Noel Group

Siobhan is the President of Chambers Ireland. She will be delivering an informative talk on the practical steps for employers to take when navigating the educational ecosystem in Ireland. Grants and funding available to businesses will also be discussed.

Siobhan is the Director for Noel Recruitment. She is a commercial executive with significant Change Management & Organisational development experience. Her role in the Noel group is capacity development and delivering on an ambitious growth agenda. She is heavily invested in Skills Development in Ireland and also holds the following positions: President & Chairman Chambers Ireland Chair, Chair Fingal Skills Strategy Advisory Group, Workplace Policy & Skills Council Member Chambers Ireland and Irish Reference Group for EU Skills Initiatives member.


Laur

Dr. Lauren Kierans LL.B LL.M - Barrister at Law

Co-author of the Annotated Statute on the Protected Disclosures Act 2014, Lauren will take delegates through a practical guide of the ‘Whistleblowing’ legislation. She will also discuss how it impacts on public, private and non-profit organisations.

Lauren is a practicing barrister who specialises in the area of protected disclosures. She was awarded her Ph.D. on the Protected Disclosures Act 2014 in June 2019. Lauren delivers a postgraduate module/professional certificate on ‘Whistleblowing Law and Practice’ in UCD, She has published articles and book chapters on protected disclosures and co-authored the Annotated Statute on the Protected Disclosures Act 2014 with Associate Professor Anthony Kerr SC, published by Round Hall.


Deirde

Deirdre Lynch - Partner, ByrneWallace

Deirdre will be discussing the most significant employment law cases that have come through the legal framework over the past 12 months. She will take delegates through the various cases in detail with key learning points highlighted for employers.

Deirdre has over 14 years’ experience advising employers in relation to contentious and non-contentious employment and health and safety law matters. Deirdre has substantial experience of defending claims brought by employees, including, claims of discrimination and unfair dismissal. She conducts tailored training workshops to provide guidance on successfully managing issues such as poor performance and grievance and disciplinary matters.
