Liam Kelly - Director General, Workplace Relations Commission (WRC)

Topic: WRC Update – Recent trends and a look at what’s on the horizon for Employers in 2020

Liam Kelly was formally appointed as Director-General of the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) in May 2019, a post he had filled on an acting basis since 1 November 2018. Prior to that, Liam had been Chief Operations Officer of the WRC since its establishment on 1 October 2015. Liam has an MA in Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations, a Higher Diploma in Public Administration and is a Certified Workplace Relations Adjudicator.

Kevin McManamon - Performance Psychology Consultant

Topic: The High-Performance Mindset; Lessons from Sport Psychology

Kevin is a Performance Psychology Consultant working with a broad range of sports, business teams and high performers including the Irish Olympic Boxing Team. He runs educational programs in the area of Life Skills, Leadership and Mental Health and is the founder of Warriors of the Light – a community initiative to change the conversation around mental health. Kevin is also an experienced high-performance athlete himself having represented the highly successful Dublin Senior Gaelic Football team since 2010 amassing 6 All Ireland Medals.

Lorraine Smyth - Partner, ByrneWallace

Topic: Employment Legislative Update

Lorraine is a Partner in the ByrneWallace Employment Team and joined the firm in 2000 after having worked in the insurance industry. Lorraine has over 15 years’ experience in all aspects of contentious and non-contentious employment law. She has particular expertise advising clients on all aspects of business transfers and has advised numerous national and international clients through outsourcing, restructuring, redundancy processes. In addition, she has extensive expertise in the areas of data protection legislation. Lorraine regularly speaks on employment law issues at seminars and has provided in-house training on employment topics to businesses in diverse industries.

Siobhan Kinsella - Director, The Noel Group

Topic: Navigating the Educational Ecosystem in Ireland

Siobhan is the Director for Noel Recruitment. She is a commercial executive with significant Change Management & Organisational development experience. Her role in the Noel group is capacity development and delivering on an ambitious growth agenda. She is heavily invested in Skills Development in Ireland and also holds the following positions: President & Chairman Chambers Ireland Chair, Chair Fingal Skills Strategy Advisory Group, Workplace Policy & Skills Council Member Chambers Ireland, Action Plan for Jobs Implementation Group member Dublin, Irish Reference Group for EU Skills Initiatives member.

Lauren Kierans LL.B LL.M - Barrister at Law

Topic: 'Whistleblowing'

Lauren qualified as a barrister in 2008 and has a special interest in Employment Law. She is an associate lecturer in law at Maynooth University, provides training on whistleblowing and the Protected Disclosures Act 2014 to organisations and is also the co-author of ‘Protected Disclosures Act 2014’.

Deirdre Lynch - Partner, ByrneWallace

Topic: Employment Case Law Update

Deirdre is a Partner in the ByrneWallace Employment Team. She has over 14 years’ experience advising employers in relation to contentious and non-contentious employment and health and safety law matters. Deirdre has substantial experience of defending claims brought by employees, including, claims of discrimination and unfair dismissal. She conducts tailored training workshops to provide guidance on successfully managing issues such as poor performance and grievance and disciplinary matters. She also speaks regularly at conferences and frequently contributes articles on developments in Irish employment law to various publications.
