Description

**Event Rescheduled! Thursday 26th April 2018.**

Have you ever wanted to grow food, but wondered how to do it in a small garden or balcony?

Have you ever wondered if berries or plants you’ve seen in hedges are edible?

Find out what you can grow in small spaces, and find in wild spaces, with Mark Ridsdill-Smith of Vertical Veg (UK) and Kathleen McMahon from Black River Wild Foods, on Friday 2nd March 2018 2-5pm in the Harbour Hotel.

Mark Ridsdill-Smith began to grow food in containers on a balcony in London in 2009. This changed his life, as he started to eat better, tastier food, which connected him to the city and local community in new ways.

Kathleen McMahon forages for wild plants in Headford , and makes delicious jellies, cordials, scones and gin from locally found plants and fruits.

This event is part of the European Green Leaf programme of Galway City Council, and is organised in conjunction with Let's Get Galway Growing Community Gardens, Galway City Partnership, European Region of Gastronomy 2018, Healthy Ireland, and the newly-formed Galway Food Policy Council.

This event is free of charge, but due to space limitations, registration is required.
