This session will explore ways to make best use of email and other services to keep up to date with recently published material.
Audience
This workshop is restricted to PhD students registered for GS530 Graduate Research Information Skills module only. See note below if you are not a student on this module.
Workshop objective
Participants will be able to set up alerting services that best suit the way they work
Prequisite
This is another hands on session. In order to save time and make the session more enjoyable and interactive please do the following in advance:
- Go through the library guide on http://libguides.library.nuigalway.ie/keepinguptodate in advance of the workshop.
- Set up an account on both Web of Knowledge and Scopus – see user guide for details (customise / registration).
- Have a look at this short video: RSS in plain English Youtube tutorial http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=IE&hl=en-GB&v=0klgLsSxGsU which explains how to use RSS feeds as a convenient alternative to email alerts.
- Set up one alert of your choice using the guidelines and links on the library guide http://libguides.library.nuigalway.ie/keepinguptodate.
