Guided Hike of Lugnaquilla via Fraughan Rock Glen
Event Information
About this event
Our route takes us up in to the stunning hanging valley of Fraughan Rock Glen with its epic ampitheatre and the sheer and rugged rock face of the Benleagh cliffs. We climb the steepest part of the hike by the picturesque Falls Brook and its cascading waters. We then traverse the floor of another higher hanging valley, steadily climbing until we reach the north spur which leads us to the 925m summit plateau. We descend a different route, staying on high ground with spectacular panoramas until we reach our second summit of the day Cloghernagh (801m). Continuing our descent opens up fine views of the whole Glenmalure valley and takes us past the beautiful Art's Lough.
