About this Event

As part of Culture Night 2019 on Friday, September 20, 2019, King’s Inns is opening up their Dining Hall for free tours of their great Georgian building.

Founded in 1541, The Honorable Society of King’s Inns is Ireland’s Oldest School of Law. It is a key example of Ireland’s Georgian architectural heritage and is one of Ireland’s magnificent social venues. The eminent architect James Gandon, who had earlier designed the Custom House and the Four Courts in Dublin, was commissioned by the benchers of King’s Inns in 1800 to design a new building for the Society on Henrietta Street.

As one of Ireland’s professional law schools, King’s Inns is today the home of future and qualified Barristers along with a broader community of people who wish to study specific areas of the law. It is also a venue for a wide range of corporate and private events and celebrations, and features in many international films and television programmes like Penny Dreadful, Becoming Jane, and Ordinary Decent Criminals.

Come visit and take a guided tour of their James Gandon designed Dining Hall, completed in 1806. Please note, as a period building, unfortunately King’s Inns is not wheelchair accessible.
