Guilty Until Proven Innocent?
Date and time
Join ICCL virtually to examine the Special Criminal Court, its denial of fundamental rights, and why it must be abolished.
About this event
ICCL has opposed the use of the Special Criminal Court since our founding in1976. The denial of the right to a trial by jury and the diluted standards of evidence which apply in the Court must be brought to an end.
This event will highlight our main concerns with the Court, the lived experiences of those who have been prosecuted in, and have practiced in, the Court, and some insight into how other countries handle so-called "terrorist" and "gang-land" offences. We hope this event will shine a light on some of the mis-information around the Court and encourage people to join us in our efforts to end the Special Criminal Court for good.
Speakers will include Osgur Breatnach who was wrongfully convicted in the Special Criminal Court and Nancy Hollander trustee of Fair Trials International and internationally recognised criminal defense lawyer.
This is an online event and details will be circulated to ticket holders.
