Half Day Writing for Children Masterclass with Olivia Hope

About this event

In this half-day Writing for Children master class, you’ll get an overview of children’s publishing, writing exciting characters, compelling plots, editing your manuscript, and how to successfully submit to an agency and land a book deal.

Half-Day Masterclass - Sat, from 9am to 12:30pm

Led by children's author Olivia Hope, the course is aimed at those beginning their writing for children journey and those that have completed their first manuscripts and looking to break into the world of children’s publishing.

Olivia Hope is an Irish writer with a special love for children’s fiction. A former record-breaking athlete, she competed internationally representing Ireland. With twenty years of experience teaching children, she has worked with all ages in the creative arts as a creative associate with the Irish Arts Council on the Creative Schools programme, and as a creative learning assistant with Siamsa Tíre (the National Folk Theatre of Ireland). The first of her picture books to be published by Bloomsbury is 'Be wild, little one' (illustrated by Daniel Egnéus). Described as an ‘outstanding book to enchant readers of all ages’ by Shirley Hughes. She currently lives in the wilds of Southwest Ireland with her family.

All events or shows will be filmed or photographed. Buying a ticket affirms your consent to the filming, sound recording or photographing of yourself as a member of the audience. Photography and recordings are strictly forbidden without the permission of the Listowel Writers' Week Literary Festival Management.
