This web conference will take place over two days. It replaces the physical conference that was planned this year in Queen’s University Belfast, and postponed now until Autumn 2021.

An auspicious date, September 24-25 marks the five-year anniversary of the United Nations summit in which the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was ratified by global leaders and a political declaration was adopted for a decade of action on the Sustainable Development Goals. The following day, September 26 also marks World Environmental Health Day.
In the first cross-border collaboration of its kind, global health North-South partners are coming together to co-host this International Conference. Partners Include -The Centre for Public Health at QUB, the Irish Global Health Network, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, the Northern Ireland Department of Health and the Coalition of Aid and Development Agencies (CADA).
In the context of major global health challenges the Conference will track progress and examine significant areas of concern.
The web conference brings together a host of speakers working in global health and will take place over two days for a three-hour period from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm each day, with an additional side event at 5:00 pm on September 24 for young professionals.
Thursday - September, 24 - Day One - SDGs Five Years On: The first online session on September 24, will be convened under the theme SDG+5. The morning and afternoon panels will feature expert speakers from a range of disciplines and fields including Nursing and Midwifery (in the WHO designated International Year of the Nurse and Midwife), Migration, Environment, Eye Health and Non Communicable Diseases. Topics addressed under these cross-cutting fields will be integrated under the overarching theme of the SDGs five years on.
Young Professionals: Side Event, September 24 at 5:00 pm
A young professionals side event will take place from 5-7pm on the evening of September 24 to examine the impact of COVID-19 on students and future health professionals. The panel of international speakers will be moderated by Dr Chris Jenkins and followed by a careers networking session.

Friday - September, 25 - Day Two - COVID-19 Pandemic: Panels on the second day will turn their focus to the challenges of broader themes in global health as they relate to the COVID-19 pandemic. Again, both sessions will feature speakers with a range of expertise on such areas as the Global Food Supply, Nutrition, Healthcare Response, Migration, Environment and Non Communicable Diseases.

Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Points:
10 points for both days: 6 points day one, 4 points day two. Please note that Committee members will be monitoring attendance throughout the two-day conference, so please ensure that you have your sessions open on your screen over the full duration.
