Event description

Description

Joe Hassett's lecture will open by recalling Heaney reading ‘The Darkling Thrush’ in the Stinsford graveyard to commemorate the poem’s one hundredth anniversary as Barney Devlin was about to strike the midnight anvil in Bellaghy to ring in the new millennium. The talk then turns to the significance for the green-passport-bearing Heaney of the example of Hardy and two other visitors to his place of writing, Robert Graves and W. B. Yeats.
