Event description

This is the booking form for REGISTRATION OF INTEREST for HOMESTAY Accomodation for HearSay19 - The 4th International Audio Arts Festival that takes place in the mountain village of Kilfinane, Co. Limerick, Ireland from the 4th-7th April 2019. Registration of Interest on this waiting list DOES NOT GUARANTEE a homestay. It is only an expression of Interest - see below for how it works.

Only those with an HearSay19 Immerse "Pass" (Crew or registered attendee) issued through EventBrite can register for the Homestay Waitlist.

PLEASE READ THE FAQs below BEFORE registering

PLEASE NOTE - Homestay places are very limited and demand for places far outstrips demand - There will be a special HearSay bus serving the surround villages/towns of Mitchelstown/Darragh, Ballyorgan/ArdPatrick/Kilmallock/Charleville at the start, end and late night for each Festival Day.

If you have already booked accomodation elsewhere, please DO NOT register for the Homestay waitlist.

Homestays are spare beds in houses of local people (generally within 6 miles of Kilfinane) who do not normally operate B&B or AirBn'B. A fixed payment is made to the host by the guest. It is a great way to meet local people, for local people to engage with HearSay and it spreads the economic benefits of HearSay to every corner of the surrounding area. Places are limited and in high demand.

How does the Registration of Interest/Waiting List work?

This form is only Registration of Interest in booking a Homestay - it does not guarantee a homestay.

To be fair to everyone - allocation of homestay rooms will be on a order of registration basis.

The first step is to express interest by registration on this waiting list.

As each Homestay becomes available, the next person/couple on the homestay list that matches the homestay that has become available, will be automatically offered the chance to book the homestay and will have 24 hours to do.

The first batch of homestays will issue at the end of January 2019. We expect more rooms to come on stream on a one by one basis closer to the event.

By the time it is offered, you may have found accomodation elsewhere. In that case, please do not book the homestay offer - every HearSay bed is precious!

What exactly is a homestay?

It is a spare bed in a family home that is generally only available for HearSay. A fixed payment is made to the host by the guest. You're generally expected to be out and about all day. Your host will not be expected to provide you with transport or food. Of course friendships do build - one homestay host was invited to attend the wedding of a HearSay17 guest in Russia!.

Will I be expected to share a room?

You can specify a room on your own. However please note, where there is a twin room, both beds will be offered as Homestays.

If you can only be in a room on your own, we completely understand. However it will take longer/be more difficult to match you.

How do I increase my chances of getting a Homestay?

If you are willing to share a room with another HearSay Attendee without knowing who it is, (or with someone you specify), you are more likely to get a Homestay. (When we are doing the pairing, people of opposite genders will not be paired unless you indicated you do not mind under "What do we need to know" )

If you have your own transport - more homestay places will be accessible to you. Homestay places are within 6 miles of Kilfinane. Those outside of town generally do not have public transport available.

Can I request to share a room with a specific someone?

Yes. You have an option register interest as a pair or couple. You can also specify if you are only looking for a twin room or a double bed, or don't mind.

If you are operating as a pair/couple, please only register once and provide both names.

Where are the Homestays?

They are located both in and around the village of Kilfinane, but also in the surrounding countryside within 6 miles/ 9 Kilometres of Kilfinane. Where the Homestay is not within walking distance of the village, it will be offered to people with their own transport.

I already have accomodation booked but quite fancy a homestay? Should I register?

Please don't! Hang on to the bed you have! Every bed for HearSay is in high demand.

I haven't booked my flight yet.

Indicative dates are okay - you will be able to edit these afterwards - if they change, please edit them as soon as you can.

You can drop a line to if you have a question that isn't answered above.
