Hikers to Bikers
Date and time
Let’s get into the habit of Park and Ride when heading for a hike to these beautiful but somewhat delicate areas. Bike and Hike Benbulben.
About this event
Bike Week is a celebration and promotion of all that’s great about bikes and cycling. Held over a week each year with bike themed events organised by local authorities, community groups and cycling groups throughout Ireland.
There are numerous free cycling related events running in Sligo throughout bike week, you can view a full list of these events at bikeweek.ie or https://www.sligosportandrecreation.ie/bikeweek/
Starting in Grange we cycle through quiet country lanes to Lukes Bridge at the foot of the majestic table top Benbulben. We then safely store our bikes, put on our hiking gear and hike up Benbulben to enjoy stunning views along the Wild Atlantic Way from the summit. On our return leg we will jump back on the bikes and enjoy an easy downhill cycle back to the start point in Grange.
Let’s get into the habit of Park and Ride when heading for a hike to these beautiful but somewhat delicate areas and enjoy taking in the sites along the way.
Please note this event demands a better standard of fitness ability (not cycle ability), usually gained through regular exercise. There will be hills hiked and clients will be active for at least 4 hours.
Appropriate outdoor clothing necessary. Example: Boots/appropriate hiking footwear, waterproof jacket/leggings, insulation layers. No denims. Water and snacks.
