Event description

Description

Join activists and historians as we discuss the campaign for reproductive rights in Ireland.

Following a 1983 referendum, the Irish state has enforced a total constitutional ban on abortion. In Northern Ireland, legal access to abortion remains similarly restricted. This workshop will feature activists committed to bringing choice and change to Ireland. History Acts workshops are led by activists, who give a short talk or presentation about their work. Historians will then respond, before opening it up to a group discussion.

Speakers include Dr Sinéad Kennedy, Prof. Senia Paseta, Breda Corish of the London-Irish Abortion Rights Campaign and Ann Rossiter and Helena Walsh of the direct-action feminist performance group Speaking of IMELDA. This event is free and open to all.
