Description

Ensuring Social Inclusiveness/Diversity in Volunteer Programmes

Are you responsible for managing volunteers in your organisation?

Would you be interested in finding out how representative your volunteer programme is of Galway City and County’s society and culture? Social Inclusion is a process, which assists people to participate fully in life from an economic, social and cultural perspective. Volunteering plays a huge role in social inclusion and should be to open to everyone, irrespective of their backgrounds and capabilities.

To mark Galway City’s social inclusion week 2018, we are organising a workshop for the Volunteer Managers Network entitled ‘How inclusive is your volunteer programme’? In this workshop we will work together to access how diverse and reflective of the society your volunteer programme. We will identify and discuss the steps to be taken to improve diversity in your programme; identify the barriers and steps to be taken to overcome these barriers. The learning outcome is to develop an Inclusive volunteering guide that would work for every volunteer involving organisation in Galway.

This will be an opportunity to meet with other like-minded volunteer managers/coordinators, share ideas, exchange experiences, seek advice and support and ultimately help build and maintain high quality volunteer programmes.

The workshop will hold on Wednesday, 17th from 11:00am-1:00pm in the Conference Room of Volunteer Galway, 27 William Street, West, Galway.

Refreshments will be provided.
