Description

We would like to welcome you to a morning briefing on PPI in industry-led research hosted by Health Research Charities Ireland (HRCI)

Who is this for?

The briefing is primarily aimed at charities and industry representatives engaged in health research (but others are very welcome).

Why?

We are making progress in PPI in academic research in Ireland but less so in industry-led research. It’s time to discuss the importance, talk about how to overcome the barriers and hopefully develop some new relationships as we do so.

What's on the agenda?

Lead author, Dr. Claire Nolan, will present on this recent guide, which we were delighted to partner on:

Supporting Patient and Public Involvement in Industry-led Research: Guidance for Charities

The following experts will then join Dr. Avril Kennan, HRCI CEO, for a discussion:

  • Oliver O'Connor, Chief Executive of the Irish Pharmaceutical Industry Association
  • Bec Hanley, Facilitator of the UK Charities Research Involvement Group and Co-Director of TwoCan Associates
  • Dr. Sinead Hickey, Research Manager, DEBRA Ireland
  • Dr. Claire Nolan, Public and Patient Involvement Facilitator

Registration from 8:30am

Briefing will begin at 9:00am

A small fee is being charged by Health Research Charities Ireland to assist the charity in covering the costs of the event.

Organised by

Health Research Charities Ireland (HRCI) is the national umbrella organisation of charities engaged in health, medical and social care research, collectively representing over 2 million people in Ireland. We champion our members’ interests, to enhance the environment for health research in Ireland. We empower them to realise our shared vision of improving lives through impactful research.

We offer our members the potential for matched research funding through the Joint Funding Scheme, run in partnership with the Health Research Board. We also run the Irish Health Research Forum, bringing together all stakeholders to improve health research in Ireland. www.hrci.ie

The Irish Health Research Forum, which is run by HRCI, brings together all stakeholders nationally to positively influence health research. The Forum considers key health research issues at two events every year and produces widely used reports and recommendations. The events are constructive and inclusive, with benefit to patients and the public being at the heart of all activities.

As an independent organisation, representing 45+ charities and with a strong patient-focus, HRCI is ideally placed to bring people together to tackle the big issues in health research and to bring about change. We are supported in all Irish Health Research Forum activities by an exceptional and diverse Steering Group of leaders. For more information see https://hrci.ie/irish-health-research-forum/
