Digital: Driving Business Transformation

Last July IAB Ireland launched Mediascope, an in-depth look at media consumption in Ireland.  The research highlighted how central the Internet is to everyday life and how all businesses now need to be truly digital to reach and influence consumers.

Internet usage has grown exponentially and there has been an 800% increase in total internet traffic per month since 2009 (Source: INEX (UPC Report on Ireland's digital future))

With 80% of all Irish now online (EU 65%), and 53% of all Irish Internet users stating that the Internet helps them choose better products / services, the Internet brings many opportunities for businesses.

The recent UPC Report on Ireland's digital future highlighted these opportunities for the Irish economy:

  • The Internet is set to contribute an additional €6 billion to the Irish economy by 2016 (from €4.7bn in 2010 to €11.3bn in 2016) if current trends are maintained
  • 2.6 million Irish shoppers will spend €5.7 billion online in 2016
  • The report estimates the potential for the creation of 18,000 jobs
  • over 60% of online shoppers would buy from an Irish website if they knew about one that matched equivalent opportunities from international sites.

Both the UPC report and Mediascope prove how indispensable the internet is to peoples lives and therefore the opportunities for brands to influence consumers.

  • Comscore Adeffx Action Lift Study looks at the effectiveness of online brand campaigns across three industries: Auto, Telco and Retail.   We have been tracking three real campaigns from Autumn 2012 and into 2013 and are measuring the direct impact of the online campaigns on the brand KPI's and on the brand attributes.
