About this event

ICON would like to invite you to participate and engage in a discussion in relation to setting up of ICON’s Human Trafficking Working Group (trafficking of human beings for the purpose of forced labour, slavery, commercial sexual exploitation and forced criminality).

We have organised MECPATHS, MRCI and speakers to deliver a recap on their training to community organisations and state agencies in the north east inner city. We are currently in a situation where many people who are fleeing their home countries because of war, poverty, and persecution. As a result of this human beings are at risk of being exploited into situations that can be detrimental to themselves and society.

We are hoping that each those who have completed the training will be available to join ICON’s Human Trafficking awareness working group. We believe it would be valuable to bring other community, youth and statutory agencies who provide services on the ground in the NEIC to engage in our working group to help create ways forward in raising awareness for others to identify human trafficking and support people who are experiencing it.

MECPATHS is a social justice response to the growing prevalence of Human Trafficking (also known as Modern Day Slavery) and the exploitation of people, in Ireland. They collaborate closely with private, statutory, and non-statutory agencies and organisations working to counter Human Trafficking including An Garda Síochána and The Department of Justice).

The full day Human Trafficking Awareness discussion will take place on Thursday 15th September from 9:30am -4pm at Wynn's Hotel, Abbey Street, Dublin 1.

Lunch will be provided - If you have any specific dietary requirements, please let us know.

We look forward to hearing from you.
