About this event
In the early 1920s, it has been estimated that almost three hundred country houses were burnt during the War of Independence and Civil War. While the architectural significance of these buildings and the importance of their contents varied, all were family homes, often cherished for hundreds of years. In this talk, Robert O’Byrne tells some of the stories behind these burnings and the aftermath. His book of the same name was recently published (Lilliput Press, 2022).
Lecture begins at 6pm (Registration from 5.40pm)
In-person €12
Online €10 (link will be send by lunchtime on the day of the talk)
Student €5 (for student bookings, please email info@igs.ie with a copy of your current, full-time student ID and the event title and the IGS team will contact you).
