Speaker: Shane O’Keeffe, Chief Technology Officer, Wizuda

Shane is the Chief Technical Officer at Wizuda, where he has been responsible for directing the development of their suite of secure data transfer solutions, integrating the latest cutting edge technologies, to meet GDPR compliance requirements. Previously Shane was Head of Development at iCONX where he managed the development of iCONX’s world class interconnect billing, routing optimisation and managed file transfer software with a primary focus on the Telecoms sector. Shane has over 20 years development experience, and is a recognised expert in the design and architecture of Business support systems utilising Microsoft Technology. His non-telco industry experience prior to joining iCONX included wide ranging roles in the construction and banking sectors.

IT’S JUST PRIVACY.

Having just recently won a prestigious Irish Research Council scholarship for her PhD research, Valerie Lyons talks to the IISF about what she has been up to in DCU as a PhD scholar. Her presentation is a summary of her PhD research over the last 2.5 years.

  • A brief but interesting overview of ‘privacy’ and ‘trust’ as inter-related constructs.
  • Ownership versus stewardship of data, control versus justice.
  • Using corporate social responsibility reports as a lens into corporate social privacy practises: What are leading organisations doing?
  • The results of her research to date.

Valerie is a highly experienced and respected cybersecurity professional with extensive experience at senior level in the financial services sector. Valerie is undertaking a PhD in Dublin City University's Business School. Her research explores organisational information privacy protection orientations of leading technology organisations and their impact on consumer trust. She has also lectured in Cybersecurity and Data Protection in DCU; and has presented at the British Academy of Management; the Irish Academy of Management; The Computer Privacy and Data Protection (CPDP) conference, Brussels; International Computer and Information Systems (ICIS) Conference; and is a regular speaker at COSAC International Conference and ISACA both here in Ireland and has also guest lectured in several Irish Universities. Before joining BH Consulting, Valerie spent 14 years as Head of Information Security Risk Management in KBC Bank, Dublin and 2 years as a research assistant in DCU.
