Event description

Description

The Blue Skies Initiative, Clondalkin and Family Matters ABC, Ballyfermot are working to create an Infant Health and Well -Being Strategy to develop knowledge, skills, practice and services for the pre-birth to 3 years’ period of life.

This free information session will be held on

Tuesday 11th of September at 10:30pm – 12:00pm (registration at 10:15am) in Ballyfermot Library in Clondalkin.

It will briefly outline what Infant Mental Health is and how the knowledge of this theory may be relevant to your organisation.

“Infant mental health is an important, exciting and rapidly developing interdisciplinary field. Compelling research is now available to demonstrate that infancy is a critical period for psycho-social development and that positive experiences within baby’s first years of life can have lasting benefits across the lifespan.

Promoting early social and emotional development in babies and toddlers has a powerful impact on the establishment of healthy and secure attachment relationships. It also acts as significant protection against the development of childhood difficulties including emotional, social and behavioural issues and the impact of these adverse issues on later development.” (Irish Association for Infant Mental Health).

After the information session, participants who are interested in being involved in creating this Infant Health & Well- Being Strategy will be sent out an application form.

We will then be offering a free 2 Day Masterclass in Infant Mental Health informed by the Michigan model of IMH in November. Participants who partake in this training will then form a multi-disciplinary Area Infant Mental Health Network, which will start in January 2019.

The IMH Network will meet every month and will be facilitated by a Coordinator who will be supervised by the Michigan IMH team.

The Network members will also be offered free training throughout the year:

2 Day Foundation training in the Solihull Approach - This training aims to increase emotional health and well-being, as well as introducing delegates to the developmental effects of childhood trauma in relation to working with children and their families.

If you are interested in finding out more, please come along to the Information Morning.
