Innovation Practice Group visit to An Post
Event Information
Description
As we continue our Innovation Practice Groups – visits to IRDG member companies who can help us learn more about Innovation – we are delighted to invite you to join us for an exclusive Members’ visit to An Post, in The GPO, Dublin on Thursday, 10th November next.
About the Company:
An Post is a major commercial organisation providing a wide range of services which encompass postal, communication, retail and financial services. It is one of Ireland's largest companies directly employing over 9,000 people through its national network of retail, processing and delivery points.
What you will learn:
Come & hear from the An Post Innovation Team about the unique opportunities & challenges faced by the business and how they are addressing them. The team will share with you the An Post business at it is today; an entity which is developing continuously, exploring new opportunities so as to respond to the changing environment. You will learn about technological innovations including the new Post Logistics business, the Innovation Challenge programme An Post has undertaken with their senior managers, the exploration of new areas of service innovation for the business, engagement with customers, and lots more.
Tour of GPO:
The presentation will be followed by a tour of GPO Witness History, the new visitor attraction in the iconic GPO building. This highly immersive and engaging exhibition puts you right inside the GPO during Easter Week in 1916. History will come to life as you experience events from both sides of the conflict and through the eyes of bystanders caught in the crossfire through electronic touch screens, video, audio visual booths, sound and authentic artefacts – many previously unseen. You’ll be immersed in the action as you compose newspaper reports, examine the original copy of the Proclamation and send Morse code to declare the Irish Republic by radio.
Hospitality:
After the exhibition, you are invited to join us for a drinks reception in the café and retail store overlooking the courtyard. The courtyard is also home to a commissioned sculpture called ‘They are of us all’, commemorating the forty children who died during the Easter Rising.
Limited capacity:
Places are limited to one person per company initially so as to accommodate as many member companies as possible on the visit. Please book early to avoid disappointment.
