Event description
A morning in Twitter for senior secondary school girls to explore careers in tech

About this Event

Computer Science is too important to be left up to boys, geeks and nerds! The lack of female participation in Computer Science is a global phenomenon. Although the reasons for this are complex there is a consensus that a lack of understanding of what computing involves, a lack of visibility of female role models and a perception of computer science being for "geeks" and "nerds" contribute to the problem.

CodePlus is an initiative of the Trinity Access project in Trinity College Dublin. CodePlus seeks to address the issue of under representation by providing support to schools to learn more about careers in computing, One aspect of what we do is to provide talks from female developers, engineers and professionals to girls in Irish secondary schools. Twitter is a global social media giant with a large base in Dublin who employ many people in a variety of tech roles who want to talk to your students about their careers and experience

On Friday the 11th of October at 9.30am we are running a morning event at the Twitter Dublin HQ, Dublin 2, for TY, 5th and 6th year girls where a panel of professional speakers from the industry will provide a number of talks on their career experience to inspire and enthuse students. This event is run with the support of the Twitter and the Science Foundation Ireland's SmartFutures programme.

Tickets are free but limited. Light refreshments provided after the event. School bookings limited to 30 tickets per chaperoning teacher (contact grace@bridge21.ie if more needed or for more inquiries)
