About this event

Irish Tech Society will award the first prize winners a €10000 cash award in exchange for the IP rights. Irish Tech Society will then further develop the solution and make it availbel to public and health care institutions as an open source solution.

Overview

On the day of the hackathon, the facilitators will introduce the theme and the problems. Attendees will then be given a short period of time to brainstorm and come up with ideas. Once this time is up, those who wish to pitch their ideas will be given 180 seconds to do so. (Not all attendees are required to pitch).

After the pitches are presented, individuals with the best ideas will be selected to advance to the next level as team leaders. The team leaders will then announce the skills they are looking for in their teams to successfully build a prototype of the solution they have pitched. These skills are usually as follows.

Developers - Software programmers, Web developers, App developers.

Creatives - Artists, graphic designers, etc.

Marketers - Skilled in branding, digital/traditional marketing, product design etc.

Executives - Skilled in management, sales, business development, partnerships, etc.

Based on the requirement of the team leaders, individuals with one or more of the above skillsets then chooses which team they would like to join. Each team will be allowed to have up to 6 members without age restriction.

After the teams are formed, the event continues through brainstorming, business plan development, and basic prototype creation.

Each team will have 50 hours from the 5th to 7th of February to prepare and finalise projects that can be on a conceptual level, prototype or complete solution to present to the judges during the Sunday night demos.
