Introduction to High Performance Computing for SMEs
Tue 4 April 2017, 09:00 – 17:00 IST
The Irish Centre for High-End Computing (ICHEC) is to hold a 1-day course on "Introduction to High Performance Computing for SMEs", supported by the Horizon 2020 SESAME Net project. The course is aimed at companies who are interested in learning about the fundamentals of High Performance Computing (HPC), or supercomputing, that leverages parallel processing to improve performance, scalability and accuracy. The course will consist of a mix of talks by HPC experts, and hands-on practical sessions on a large-scale HPC system to demonstrate key concepts, covering high-end hardware architectures, parallel programming paradigms (e.g. OpenMP, MPI) and performance considerations.
Registration is open for industry/private sector employees and staff ONLY, on a first come first served basis. Participation in the course is free of charge.
Each participant must bring along a wifi-equipped laptop to the course for practical exercises. Ideally the laptop should have SSH client software installed (e.g. PuTTY for Windows) prior to attendance.
