About this event

Congratulations! You have made the decision to step into the world of politics. We are delighted that you chose to register with us for our free online SHESchool. Our aim in this foundation course is to demystify local politics. We solemnly promise that there is no homework involved and all you need is an hour and a half once a week, an email address, a device that connects to the internet, and a beverage of your choice to join in!

The overall aim of the SHE Project is to empower women to engage in electoral politics. We want to see more women being elected to councils especially in our rural constituencies. But this is not what our free online SHESchool is about right now. It is about explaining local politics, where you fit in, and what you can do to have a say in what goes on.

Our free online SHESchool is for all women who wants to start to build up a bit of knowledge about what politics is and how politics works.

There are two classes which take about 90 minutes. We run them at two different times so you can choose which one fits in best with everything else you have going on. The choice is 10-11.30am or 7.30-9pm.

Week 1. Wednesday 16th June. Who does what in the Council and how can I get involved.

Week 2. Wednesday 23rd June. What is the Councillor's job all about and why are there so few women.
