Event description
Ballinasloe Workshop : Introduction to The Decider Skills Programme

About this event

This workshop will introduce us to an important skillset that can be used by adults and children. Often, managing our emotions is a neglected subject until things go wrong! The emphasis of the Decider Programme is on helping individuals to live a more skilful, less impulsive life. Impulsive behaviours can have devastating consequences. Self harm, avoidance, withdrawal and isolation, aggression, substance misuse and binge eating are behaviours often associated with anger, depression, anxiety, addictions, eating disorders and personality disorders. The Decider Programme empowers us to feel greater Distress Tolerance (is geared towards increasing a person’s tolerance of negative emotions rather than trying to escape from them), Mindfulness (focus on improving an individuals ability to accept and be present in the moment), Emotional Regulation and Interpersonal Effectiveness.

This workshop will cover a number of practical ways that you can use in recovery and to maintain your wellbeing.
