Event description
This conference will explore security challenges, the digital agenda, the sustainable economy for Ireland and the NB8.

About this Event

Ireland and the Nordic-Baltic 8 (NB8) Conference will be hosted by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Institute for International and European Affairs and the Ambassadors of the Nordic-Baltic 8 accredited to Ireland.

Across Europe, cooperation is both desirable and essential in trying to reach our shared goals – especially for small and medium sized countries. Representatives of Ireland and the NB8 (Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, and Sweden) will highlight areas of complementarity and explore the potential for deepening links.

This half day conference will explore new security challenges, the digital agenda, the sustainable economy, and the prospects for further enhancing wider political, cultural, social and environmental connections between Ireland and the NB8 countries.

Speakers will include:

  • Kirsti Narinen, Director of International Relations at The European Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats (Hybrid CoE)
  • Alex White, Chair of the IIEA's Energy Group & Former Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources
  • Matti Anttonen, Permanent State Secretary of Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland
  • Edward Burke, Assistant Professor in International Relations at the University of Nottingham
  • Andrienne Harrington, Chief Executive of The Ludgate Hub

More to speakers to be announced.
