About this event
Irish Stammering Association and University College of Dublin will be hosting a screening of the documentary film 'My Beautiful Stutter' which is directed by Ryan Gielen and written by Steven Sander. As well as being an informative documentary about the lives of children who stutter and promoting the message that stuttering is okay, this film is also beautifully made with beautiful snapshots of American life.
This screening will take place on Thursday the 20th of October from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at the UCD Cinema, located in the Student Centre of the college, which is near the Clonskeagh gate. Directions and info on parking can be found here https://www.ucd.ie/studentcentre/contact
The film is 1.5hrs and there will be an informal discussion afterwards.
Blurb of the film; My Beautiful Stutter follows five kids who stutter, ages 9 to 18, from all over the United States and all walks of life, who, after experiencing a lifetime of bullying and stigmatization, meet other children who stutter at an interactive arts-based program, The Stuttering Association for the Young, based in New York City. Over the course of a year we witness first hand the incredible transformation that happens when these young people of wildly different backgrounds experience for the first time the revolutionary idea at the heart of SAY: that it's okay to stutter.
