ISTR Nov. Symposia - BioSafety / Chemical Control - Challenges & Solutions
Event Information
Description
NOVEMBER SYMPOSIA - Tuesday 15th & Wednesday 16th November
(1-day & 2-day rates available)
Today’s safety professional works in an ever-changing environment. Our symposia will take time out to look at existing and re-emerging risks and examine what is required to ensure you stay in control.
DAY 1 - 15 NOVEMBER Emerging and re-emerging threats - diseases, disinfectants and the disaffected looks at various topical challenges to ensuring a (bio)safe working environment - from new diseases emerging or re-emerging to new techniques and technologies being used in biosciences and the management of potential threats from those who work in our laboratories. We will also look at good practice for containment of insect vectors of disease and discuss the impact of new legislation on a key control; disinfection, and the role that the biosafety community might have in this area.
Day 2 - 16 NOVEMBER Chemical substances: Who is in control? examines the requirements needed to ensure chemicals are correctly and adequately controlled. We will focus on controls from the supplier, user and national security perspective and we will learn from studies where control failure has played a significant part. We will highlight the controls required in accordance with REACH when chemicals are shared with collaborators both on and off-site. There will be opportunity for delegates to contribute and share their own experience and participate in the afternoon workshop.
