It Starts With Local

Join Donegal Women in Business Network in celebrating International Women's Day during Local Enterprise Week!

If you are planning to start a business, grow a business or promote your business and service, it all starts with local. Donegal Local Enterprise Office is the first point of contact for all to research your idea further and answer "The what do I do next?" question.

This year, for international Women’s Day, Donegal Women in Business Network have planned the "It Starts With Local" event to celebrate all the local businesses in our community that we use daily. Our four local female entrepreneurs, guest speakers will share their inspirational stories and learning on how they have grown their business through local support, local services and their greater local community and networks.

In this workshop you will discover how to :

• Build connections to promote and grow your business.

• Network with the Diaspora at home and abroad - extend local!

• Discover top tips and inspirational advice on how our guest speakers achieved their goals.

• Have an opportunity to speak about your business or service.

The event is followed by a celebratory evening meal at 5pm in the CoLab canteen in celebration of International Women's Day

Leah Fairman returned to her home town of Stranorlar three years ago, after time working in human resources and management roles in Germany and London.

Leah leads the operations for BASICC, a social enterprise in Ballybofey & Stranorlar with the aim of stimulating regeneration in the Twin Towns and wider Finn Valley area.

As part of her role, Leah manages The BASE Enterprise Centre and key projects for Ballybofey & Stranorlar Chamber of Commerce.

Leah is the founder of Wild Days Out, a walking and wellbeing company with the aim of encouraging everyone to get out and explore more, building their mental and physical wellbeing as they go. Organised weekly walks are open to locals and visitors alike.

Meg O’Gara is a creative vintage loving designer & illustrator who is best known as Megnificent Creative. Living in Glencolumbkille, and based in Kilcar, she offers a range of creative online services from graphic design for print & web, to bespoke illustrations for personal or business use and loves sprinkling creativity wherever she goes.

Being creative is something that comes naturally to Meg, who can often be found knee deep in craft projects with her two sons aged 3 and 1, or whizzing up vintage-style clothes or headpieces for herself at home.

Mother of two, with another joining the family in 2020, Meg is co-author of the newly published book, The Mammy Handbook, and she loves to empower other mothers on their own unique journey in motherhood and help them to shed the mum guilt whilst raising their tribe.

Joanne Butler is a local food growing activist and facilitator who lives in Gortahork where she runs her home business OURganic Gardens. Joanne is manager and garden designer on her four-acre site where she runs workshops on growing vegetables and designing food and permaculture gardens.

Joanne is currently on this year’s ACORNS programme that empowers Women in Ireland as business entrepreneurs with local mentors. Joanne lives with her husband and three amazing children who inspire her every day to keep going and help create a vibrant, resilient community in Donegal.

Pauline Sugrue is a food enthusiast, full-time chef and part-time blogger. Pauline ran the successful Cafe Blend for many years in Donegal and graduated from Ballymaloe Cookery School.

Delivering a real food experience, she shares her joy for cooking delicious, fresh, all-natural meals for all events!

Pauline provides a high quality personal service using fresh simple and local ingredients, running a range of food experiences and culinary delights from her base at Wild Garlic Table in Ramelton.
