Jazz for Ataxia @ RDS Concert Hall
Event Information
Description
What is ataxia?
Ataxia is a hereditary disorder which causes progressive damage to the central nervous system. Symptoms generally start to develop in children between the ages of 6 and 16, until they are confined to a wheelchair by their late teens or early 20’s.
Ataxia is a particularly prevalent disease in Ireland, with twice as many incidences as in the UK or the USA, yet it is not well known.

Le Trio Gershwin
Frequent USA and Europe touring French classic jazz band 'Le Trio Gershwin' will be flown in from Paris for an exclusive concert at the RDS Concert Hall.
Inspired from the music of one of the greatest classic jazz composers of the 20th Century, George Gershwin, the band will play many of his all-time classics such as Rhapsody in Blue, An American in Paris, and the Porgy and Bess concert.
Listen to an extract of their performance of Rhapsody in Blue here.
What will I get from this event?
This concert will benefit the Ataxia Ireland charity, the National Support Group for people living with ataxia and their families.
By attending this event, you will help the charity to hold its annual Respite Week, in Cuisle, Co Roscommon. This is a highly important event in the lives of the members and their families, where they are offered emotional and physical care by helpers who donate their time for free, and can reconnect as a family.
Due to recent cuts in the charity's funding, this vital event will not go ahead without your support. Your contribution can make a real difference to these families' lives.
