Event description

Description

About the event: Cork is made up of so many cultures and diverse people, so is JCI Cork, and to celebrate we are holding a small picnic in Fitzgerald Park where we ask you to come with your story that tells us about your culture or diversity. Stories are personal, come and share one page of your life’s book with us, let’s make an intercultural and diverse journey together! We will start the event with a short informal workshop on storytelling and then have some pizza and refreshments while we tell one another our stories.

Why attend: Apart from the fact that you are probably a bit of culture or diversity nerd, we will tell you what value JCI Cork brings existing members and potential members. To start with JCI is a place where you can grow on a personal and professional level while making your community a better place. JCI is a community of, well, just pretty awesome people, the future leaders of Cork. Members have access to monthly events, training, and social gatherings as well as getting involved in great projects like the friendly business awards. Where we recognise the hard work our local businesses put in to make Cork a great place. Perhaps you have a skill you want to further develop or you want to learn something new? While being passionate about helping the community and further grow your network then this is the place for you.

We invite all existing members and potential members of JCI Cork to come, enjoy the weather, have some fun and learn more about how you can make the most of your journey or potential journey with JCI Cork.

About JCI: Junior Chamber International (JCI) is a non-profit international non-governmental organization of young people between 18 and 40 years old. It has members in about 124 countries and regional or national organizations in most of them. It has consultative status with the Council of Europe, with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and with UNESCO. It was founded in St Louis in 1915. It encourages young people to become active citizens and to participate in efforts towards social and economic development, and international cooperation, goodwill, and understanding. JCI has become a strong local, national and international network of young people. Just imagine the good you could do on a local, national or international level! And having access to such a vast network is just priceless.

Closing: Join us for pizza and refreshments in the park, learn more about JCI Cork and most importantly learn more about the vibrant diversity of Cork through stories! Let’s connect and share with amazing people from various horizons...

Don’t think you are good at telling stories? That does not matter, think about it you tell stories every day! And the only way you can improve is by telling more, so don’t be nervous, this event is not public speaking, it is about meeting new people and talking to one or two people at a time.

Please note this is a small picnic type event and ticket numbers have been limited to 20 so be sure to register before we sell out. Otherwise, join the waiting list if you are too late.

We hope to see you there from the JCI Cork Team.
