Kaleidoscope: "the mask, the muse & Mishima"
Wed 5 April 2017, 20:30 – 22:30 IST
Kaleidoscope returns to its 1st Wednesday of the month slot at Bello Bar with a top-notch billing of the sublime Ficino Ensemble, innovative sarode and ukulele player Matthew Noone and the electric Cork-based jazz ensemble, Súp Trio. From the Ficino Ensemble we’ll hear the voice of 19th c. French composer, André Caplet, his “Conte Fantastique” for harp and string quintet and also Philip Glass’ string quartet no. 3, a work based on the 1985 movie “Mishima”. Matthew Noone presents a selection of original and reworked solo material entitled “The Mountain Muse”, employing sarode, ukulele, fiddle and a loop machine in the process. Súp Trio, comprising Cormac McCarthy (piano), Eoin Walsh (bass) and Davie Ryan (drums), will close this Kaleidoscope night with their admirably lyrical and entirely engrossing brand of new jazz.
