Handle the Oar

Handle the Oar is a return to rowing programme provided by Portmagee Rowing Club in South Kerry. Over the course of 4 hours you will learn the techniques to rowing firstly on rowing machines before getting two hours in a boat rowing through the picturesque south Kerry village of Portmagee under the guidance of experience crew members and qualified coxswain in a safe and Covid complaint manner.

So graduate from the rowing machine to a four oar rowing race boat and learn to handle the oar. This class is for beginners, those who might want to wish to return to rowing after a lay off or just somebody who wants to try a different sport in a team sport.

Sports Provider: Portmagee Rowing Club

Location: Portmagee

Start Date: Wednesday June 9th 2021 @7pm (Each Wednesday)

Programme Duration: 4x1 hour covid compliant classes including two on the water

Price: €10

Target Group: Open to all over the age of 16

*Under Covid Guidelines Class size will be a maximum of 12 and you will have to comply with the clubs Covid Policy at the time of the programme.

Kerry Recreation and Sports Partnership are delighted to be able to support Kerry Sports Providers under The Keeping Kerry Active programme, a Keep Well initiative supported by Sport Ireland and Kerry County Council which aims to support Kerry sports businesses, clubs and facilities which have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
